Great Tree Canopy Comeback 2008
Started in 2002, the Great Tree Canopy Comeback
is the annual tree planting day for our city parks, organized
by the Friends of the Parks and the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation
Department. As our city parks compete for funding in the ever-more
competitive public arena, private funding must fill the gap.
Individuals from throughout the city join generous business
sponsors in underwriting the purchase of trees and by volunteering
to help plant the trees in November. This
year's annual Great Tree Canopy Comeback was Saturday,
November 1, 2008.
We need your help! Your time. Your money.
Either one will work for us.
Grab a shovel, a few of your friends and come
out to help. If you prefer writing a check to wielding a shovel,
consider buying a tree. Or gather a group of your friends
and pool your resources for a grove of trees. Either way,
your help will be a lasting gift to our parks.
