A New Resource for Today’s Needs
Financial pressures and a variety of modern
park needs are putting unprecedented pressures on our parks
and our park officials. Through its relationships with organizations
such as the Pittsburgh Park Conservancy and Friends of the
Parks of Chicago, as well as national organizations such as
the Cultural Landscape Foundation and the City Parks Alliance,
Friends of the Parks is a resource for some of the most current
and creative solutions available to address our local park
challenges.
Friends, A Complementary Resource
Our activities complement those of community
and municipal park departments. We:
• Support
comprehensive, inclusive planning and project implementation
with consideration for recreation, landscape design and park
heritage;
• Provide
advisory opinions on environmental issues affecting the parks;
• Facilitate
neighborhood involvement;
• Participate
actively in park betterment projects with organization, volunteers
and funding;
• Conduct
special, one-time community educational events on local and
national park issues.
